When Yamaha XMAX 300 is worth renting on Samui?

Last April I mapped a Samui grand circuit plus Nathon market and a southern-cape detour - 143 km - and took the XMAX 300 because no other rental scooter finishes that distance without rider or engine visibly tiring; at 90 km/h two-up on the northern ring road it was working at 60 per cent of its range. On the 14 km Nathon-Bangrak straight it cruises 90 km/h with no vibration where the NMAX sits close to its ceiling, a 10 km/h margin that decides any run committing to 30 km-plus of ring road. Across four days the taller screen, longer seat and wide floorboard left me measurably fresher by day four. Watching a French couple's NMAX labour up the Lamai gradient, the XMAX carried two at 60 km/h with no engine-note rise. For a Chaweng-Lamai day under 40 km I take the NMAX and save 270 baht. It earns its premium when the day tops 60 km, includes a gradient or runs sustained two-up - meet two of the three.
